Oral thin films (OTF) are placed on or under the tongue or buccally. They are immediately absorbed by the oral mucosa and the active substance is directly transported into the bloodstream. Tablets and capsules taste harsh, and 60% of them contain excipients that have no medicinal value. When they pass via the hepatic portal system and stomach acids, the majority of their active components are denatured.
